Mark,

We do a lot of no-strings attached events in the church, including many for this age group. In this particular instance, the project included in the kit requires kids to participate to build the barn and learn the lessons included in the kit.

I don't consider it a bribe. It's a way for kids to take ownership of the project and learn teamwork and responsibility. I fear that sometimes we are so concerned with the "no strings" attached approach in EVERY item we do as a church, we forget that to build a work requires commitment, teamwork, and taking ownership of the ministry. I don't see any harm in requiring kids to come to the studies if they want to see the movie with their peer group in church.

Thanks for stopping in and commenting! Be Blessed!

Why make compulsory attendance a requirement for the gift? Why not just give the "movie gift" no-strings-attached? I'm afraid that bribes (which this seems to be) may teach them that love is conditional (among other things).

My 2 cents.
